HISTORY OF THE NORTH AMERICAN BISON

The North American Plains Bison is the largest land mammal in America. These magnificent creatures are a massive, yet peace-loving giant, and are revered throughout the world for what they represent. They are a symbol of liberty to all those who search for a beacon of freedom in turbulent world.
They have been here for tens of thousands of years. They survived the last Ice Age, and are still with us today. In the mid-1800s they numbered more than 60 million, and by the 1880s there were fewer than 300 survivors. Today, there are more than 400,000 North American Plains Bison in the United States. They exist primarily on private ranches and public reserves in every state in the union.
